Complement your ICSV32 Istanbul experience by joining our Technical Tours, offering exclusive access to some of Türkiye’s leading research, testing, and cultural institutions in acoustics, vibration, and sound-related technologies.
These technical visits provide participants with a unique opportunity to explore how acoustics, vibration engineering, metrology, soundscape research, and performance venue design are implemented in real-world environments. From advanced automotive NVH testing facilities and national metrology laboratories to underwater acoustics research infrastructure, world-class performing arts venues, and urban soundscape experiences, the tours showcase the diverse applications of sound and vibration science across industry, research, and society.
Technical Tours are designed to complement the scientific program of ICSV32 by providing firsthand exposure to state-of-the-art facilities, measurement technologies, research infrastructures, and acoustically significant environments throughout Istanbul and its surroundings.

1-ITU OTAM – Automotive Technologies Research Center

Theme: Automotive Acoustics, Vibration and NVH Testing
Date: 09.07.2026 / 14.00–16.00
Duration: Approximately 2 hours
Location: ITU OTAM – Automotive Technologies Research Center, Istanbul Technical University, Ayazağa Campus, Istanbul

Transportation: Participants will depart from the front entrance of the conference hotel at 14:00 and travel together via the Istanbul M2 Metro Line from Osmanbey Station to İTÜ–Ayazağa Station. Following the technical visit, the group will return by the same route.

At ITU OTAM (Automotive Technologies Research Center), participants will explore one of Türkiye’s most advanced automotive noise and vibration testing environments, where acoustic and vibration engineering meets real vehicle-level testing and analysis.

During the visit, participants will see:

• Acoustic and vibration testing in semi-anechoic rooms equipped with silent chassis dynamometers
• Dynamic measurement setups for engine, chassis, and body-induced noise and vibration analysis
• Acoustic instrumentation, precision sensors, and data acquisition systems used for NVH testing
• Modal analysis and system-level vibration test capabilities
• Equipment for high-resolution noise and vibration measurements, including accelerometers and microphones
• Tools and software used for analyzing acoustic data and evaluating vibration responses

ITU OTAM provides a unique chance to see how sound and vibration engineering is applied and evaluated in an environment designed for real vehicle testing according to international engineering standards.

2- TÜBİTAK UME & TÜBİTAK MAM-SAL

TÜBİTAK UME – National Metrology Institute

Theme: Acoustic and Vibration Research Laboratories
Date: 10.07.2026 / 09.00–16.00
Duration: Approximately 7 hours (including transportation)
Location: TÜBİTAK UME, Gebze, Kocaeli, Türkiye

Transportation: A private shuttle bus will depart from the conference hotel at 09:00 and return to the hotel after the completion of the technical tour.

At TÜBİTAK UME, participants will explore Türkiye’s national center for high-precision calibration and measurement technologies, where acoustic and vibration measurement testing meets targeted scientific accuracy.

During the visit, participants will see:

• Primary measurement standards used for calibration of acoustic and vibration sensors as well as measurement and test equipment
• Modern laboratories equipped with state of the art high-accuracy microphone, accelerometer, and vibration sensor calibration systems
• Data acquisition and signal validation environments supporting precise sound and vibration measurements
• National metrology workflow, ensuring traceability and reliability in measurement and testing technologies

Participants will observe how sound and vibration measurement equipment is calibrated and verified to meet global engineering accuracy standards.

TÜBİTAK MAM – Underwater Acoustics Laboratory (SAL)

Theme: Underwater Acoustics and Marine Measurement Technologies

Duration: Approximately 7 hours (including transportation)
Location: TÜBİTAK MAM, Gebze, Kocaeli, Türkiye

At TÜBİTAK MAM Underwater Acoustics Laboratory (SAL), participants will explore one of Türkiye’s most specialized research infrastructures dedicated to underwater sound, acoustic sensing, and marine measurement technologies. Established to support the localization of critical underwater acoustic technologies, SAL plays an important role in national research, testing, and calibration capabilities in underwater acoustics.

During the visit, participants will see:

• A large acoustically isolated test pool designed for controlled underwater acoustic measurements and experimental studies
• Precision positioning systems used for the placement and testing of hydrophones, transducers, and sensor arrays
• Hydrophone Test and Calibration Systems used for electro-acoustic characterization across a wide frequency range
• Measurement infrastructure for transmission voltage response and free-field voltage sensitivity testing
• Technical setups for sound pressure level (SPL), directivity pattern, linearity, harmonic distortion, impedance, and mechanical resonance measurements
• Laboratory systems supporting underwater acoustic sensor evaluation, validation, and reporting

TÜBİTAK MAM SAL provides a unique opportunity to observe how underwater acoustics is studied, measured, and validated through advanced laboratory infrastructure supporting both scientific research and applied engineering.

3- Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM)

Theme: Room Acoustics and Performing Arts Venues
Date: 09.07.2026 / 14.00–16.00
Duration: Approximately 2 hours
Location: Türk Telekom Opera Hall, Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), Taksim, Istanbul

Transportation: Participants will depart from the front entrance of the conference hotel at 14:00 and travel together via the Istanbul M2 Metro Line from Osmanbey Station to Taksim. Following the technical visit, the group will return by the same route.

One of Türkiye’s most significant cultural landmarks, the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) reopened its doors on October 29, 2021, with a contemporary architectural vision that respectfully references its historic predecessor. Located in the heart of Taksim Square, AKM serves as a major hub for performing arts and cultural activities, hosting opera, theatre, concerts, exhibitions, and multidisciplinary events throughout the year.
As part of the ICSV32 Technical Tours, participants will have the opportunity to visit the prestigious Türk Telekom Opera Hall, the centerpiece of the AKM complex. Designed to accommodate 2,040 spectators, the hall represents a remarkable example of contemporary performance venue design, integrating advanced stage technologies with high-level acoustic engineering. During the visit, participants will gain insights into the architectural and acoustic design principles of the opera hall, including room acoustics considerations, audience experience, stage-house configuration, and the integration of acoustic requirements within a modern cultural facility. The tour offers a unique opportunity to explore one of Türkiye’s most important performing arts venues from an acoustical perspective.

4- SOUNDWALK WORKSHOP: Searching Quietness In Istanbul Historic Peninsula

Theme: Soundscape
Date: 09.07.2026 / 13.30–17.00 (including transportation)
Duration: Approximately 3,5 hours
Location: Eminönü Square, Balkapanı Inn, Büyük Valide Inn, Yeni Inn, Grand Bazaar, Zincirli Inn, Nuruosmaniye Mosque, Vezir Inn, Çemberlitaş Square

Transportation: A private shuttle bus will depart from the conference hotel at 13.30 and return to the hotel after the completion of the workshop.

Are you ready to explore the cloisters of Istanbul’s history through their sounds?
This workshop, to be held in Istanbul’s Historical Peninsula, invites participants from different countries to collectively explore the city’s multilayered soundscape. Participants will take part in a guided soundwalk through areas where trade, culture, and everyday life are deeply intertwined. Through the practice of listening, observations and online surveys, they will experience the city and its historical fabric in relation to its various spatial layers, while also discovering quiet within.

5- DIALOGUE IN THE DARK MUSEUM : A Life-Changing Experience

Theme: Inclusivity, Space navigation
Date: 07.07.2026 / 15.30–18.00 (including transportation)
Duration: Approximately 2.5 hours
Location: Dialogue in the Dark Museum, Gayrettepe Metro Station (-2 Floor), Büyükdere Avenue, 34394 Şişli, Istanbul
Participation: Additional fee applies. Fee details will be announced at the Information Desk.

Transportation: Participants will depart from the front entrance of the conference hotel at 15.30 and travel together via the Istanbul M2 Metro Line from Osmanbey Station to Gayrettepe Station. After the visit, the group will return to the hotel using the same route.

Note: This experience takes place in complete darkness. Participants with claustrophobia, severe anxiety related to darkness, or similar conditions should carefully consider whether the experience is suitable for them.

Dialogue in the Dark is one of the world’s most exciting life-changing experiences where visitors are guided by blind guides in absolute darkness. You get the chance to experience daily environments from a completely new perspective, when you enjoy a walk in the park, take a boat cruise or visit a café in designed darkened rooms. Daily routines become exciting and a reversal of role is created where sighted become blind and blind become sighted. This one-hour experience offers visitors an opportunity to experience an unknown Istanbul.

Registration for the tours will take place at the ICSV32 Info Desk throughout the conference. As the number of participants is limited, places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage interested attendees to register early to secure their participation. Participation is available exclusively to registered ICSV32 attendees.
